CSU Bookstore Shipping Policy

When your order is placed before Noon on Monday-Friday, your order will ship or be ready for pick-up the same day on in-stock items! Orders placed after Noon on Monday-Friday will be processed the next business day.

Plan Ahead! Due to the high volume of textbook orders received during the final two weeks of January and August, please allow an additional business day before your order ships or is ready for pickup.

UPS SurePost 

The CSU Bookstore may use UPS SurePost to send your order. UPS will deliver your package to the destination post office, and a USPS postal carrier will make the final delivery. All UPS SurePost packages have UPS and USPS tracking numbers.

Estimated Shipping Times

Please note: Shipping times are estimates, and are subject to changes in weather, distribution, and volume, especially during holiday periods. Service to some remote areas also may require additional delivery days. Saturday delivery is unavailable for Gold and Stalwart Express.

Decals and Gift Cards Only Shipping Rate

Only ordering decals or gift cards? Choose our Decals Only shipping rate! Your order will ship via non-trackable United States Postal Service First Class Mail in a standard envelope.

Rate is $2/decal; maximum of $8/order.

Retail Delivery Fee for Colorado Shipments

The State of Colorado requires CSU Bookstore to collect a $0.28 Retail Delivery Fee for every delivery bound for a Colorado address. The CSU Bookstore pays this fee on behalf of our customers residing in the State of Colorado.  

International Shipments

  • International shipment rates start at $39.99. International Shipment rates vary depending on your items' destination, carrier, weight, and dimensions.
  • Handling fees on oversized items still apply to International shipments.
  • Before shipping your order, the CSU Bookstore will email you shipping quotes with shipping rates and estimated transit times. Please respond to this email so we can promptly send your shipment to you.
  • Please allow an additional 24 hours for the CSU Bookstore to process your International Order.
  • All international orders are subject to approval by the Colorado State University Export Control department. Some items can not be shipped internationally. We will notify you of any restrictions before completing your order.
  • International Shipping charges are non-refundable.
  • The customer is responsible for all duties, taxes, tariffs, fees, and other charges assessed by customs agencies. The CSU Bookstore does not declare purchases as "gifts" to avoid duties/taxes.
  • Due to university export control regulations, the CSU Bookstore cannot ship to freight forwarders. Orders shipping to freight forwarders will be held until we get destination shipment information, and may be cancelled if destination shipment information is not provided.

Special Handling Fees

Some items we carry require special handling from our carrier. These items are usually very fragile, bulky, or heavy. Items with a handling fee include:

  • Yard Signs
  • Diploma Frames
  • Canopy Tents
  • Sculptures
  • Furniture

Any additional handling fees will be disclosed on the item page. Handling charges are only charged on orders for shipment; orders for in-store pickup are not assessed a handling fee. Handling fees are non-refundable.

Misdirected Returns

The CSU Bookstore is not responsible for accepting, safekeeping, or returning any items you ship to us in error, including items not purchased from us or rental books returned to us in error. If we receive and accept a misdirected return, sender will be required to pay to ship the item back.

Back Order Shipments

Customers are not charged for additional shipments to fulfill back-ordered merchandise and textbook orders.

In-Store Pick Up at the Lory Student Center

For your convenience, you can order online and pick up your order at the CSU Bookstore! Our in-store pick up counter inside the CSU Bookstore makes it convenient to pick up your textbooks, supplies, or CSU Rams gear!

Our system requires you to pick a date to pick up your order. We will have the order ready to pick-up before 3 pm of the requested pick-up date. Your order may be ready sooner than the requested pick-up date.

Orders for In-Store Pick Up are held for 14 days from the day we notify you the order is ready to pick up. Orders left longer than 14 days are restocked, and may be charged a restocking fee.

  • Orders submitted BEFORE 2 pm Mountain Time are ready before 3 pm the SAME business day.
  • Orders submitted AFTER 2 pm Mountain Time are ready before 3 pm the NEXT business day.
  • Orders received AFTER 2 pm Mountain Time on Friday are ready Monday (or the next business day) before 3 pm.

Our order pick-up counter is open Weekdays from 8 am - 4 pm. To arrange a pick-up outside these hours, please email [email protected].

Can Someone Else Pick Up My Order?

Yes! Please email to [email protected] [email protected] with the name of the person picking up your order so we can make a note on our end. Please share your order number and pick up details they will need to pick up your order.

How Soon Do I Need to Pick Up My Order?

Customers have 21 days from the day we notify you the order is ready to pick up to pick up your order. Orders unclaimed more than 21 days are refunded and restocked, and may be charged a restocking fee. If you need more time to pick up your order, please email [email protected].

Claims for Broken or Missing Shipments

If your order arrives damaged or doesn’t arrive as expected, please contact the CSU Bookstore directly — do not file a claim with UPS or USPS yourself.

To ensure proper handling, we must submit all carrier claims on behalf of our customers. Claims filed directly through the carrier cannot be processed or honored by the CSU Bookstore.

  • Broken or Damaged Items: Please email photos of your damaged item(s) and packaging to [email protected]. Our team will review your claim and provide next steps for replacement or refund.
  • Missing Packages: If tracking shows your package as delivered, but you have not received it, please reach out to us within 10 business days of the delivery date. We will contact the carrier and file a missing package claim on your behalf.

International Shipping

We’re proud to serve Rams across the globe — from current students and parents to alumni and Semester at Sea travelers — with international shipping options that meet their needs.

Please keep the following in mind when placing an order for an international destination.

  • International shipment rates start at $49.99 and vary by destination, carrier, and package weight.
  • Handling fees on oversized items apply and are added to the shipping cost.
  • Please allow an additional 24–48 hours for processing international orders.

Customs and Regulations

  • All international orders require approval by the Colorado State University Export Control Department.
  • International shipping charges are non-refundable.
  • Customers are responsible for all duties, taxes, and customs fees. The CSU Bookstore does not mark purchases as gifts.
  • Due to export regulations, we cannot ship to freight forwarders or restricted destinations.

  • Back Ordered Items: After making the initial shipment, customers are not charged additional shipping fees to fulfill back-ordered textbook orders.
  • Campus Delivery: Internal Campus Delivery is available only for department purchases paid for with a department account. Personal orders cannot use Campus Delivery for fulfillment.

Free Shipping Details

Between December 5 - December 19, 2025, the CSU Bookstore is offering FREE Ground Shipping on orders of $149 or more (before taxes and shipping) to addresses within the continental United States. Below are details for our free shipping offer.

  • Shipping will use UPS Ground or USPS First Class or Priority Mail.
  • Only valid for delivery in the continental United States.
  • Offer excludes course materials, electronics, or gift cards.
  • Offer excludes diploma frames, oversized items, or drop-shipped products. See our "Special Handling" section for restrictions. 
  • Free shipping is not available for faculty or staff using the employee appreciation coupon.
  • Order must total $149 before taxes and shipping.
  • Free shipping applies to a single shipping address per order.
  • Offer is not valid on previous purchases.
