In addition to featuring the traditional colors of the rainbow flag designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, the Philadelphia version of the flag adds the NEW traditional colors of brown and black, representing minority, marginalized, and people of color in the LGBTQ+ community. This new flag was launched in 2017 in Philadelphia as a way to raise awareness, and be a call of action, of inclusivity in the LGBTQ+ community.
