CSU Bookstore Refresh Project

Information about the CSU Bookstore refresh project running from May 2022-May 2023.

Building the Bookstore for the Future of CSU

In May 2022, the CSU Bookstore began a refresh project inside our Lory Student Center location, coinciding with the Lory Student Center North End expansion and remodeling project. The majority of construction is complete.

The scope of work at the CSU Bookstore included:

Replaced out of code fire suppression equipment and acoustic tile ceiling fixtures.

Repaired the bookstore staircase for customer safety and to unify the two levels.

New paint, signage, energy efficient lighting, carpet, and store fixtures.

A better shopping experience for CSU students, alumni, staff, faculty, fans, and the CSU community.

During Summer 2022, construction crews worked on our lower level. The lower level of the CSU Bookstore better serves our student customers, with new locations for our course materials and supplies departments, plus a dedicated in-store pick up counter. Students will find the supplies they need for their courses, and readers will be able to find our General Books department in its new home.

Beginning in February 2023, we temporarily shifted our CSU Rams Gear to the lower level while crews work on our upper level. Our new upper level opened before graduation, showing students and families bold new graphics throughout the store. We invite CSU Rams fans who are purchasing their CSU Rams gear before the big game, or during orientation to come see our new store. With a new study lounge going next to our upper level, you can even shop between classes.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the remodeling project happening?+ Crews worked on the lower level during Summer 2022, and we opened our lower level for business for the Fall 2022 semester. Starting February 20, crews will begin working on the upper level, with work scheduled for completion in May 2023.
Will I still be able to shop at the CSU Bookstore during construction? + YES! We anticipate being open during construction. You may not find items in the same space you normally would find them, but our friendly employees can help locate the items you are seeking.
Where can I park during the construction project? +

As of February 2022, all parking lots are accessible. Please park according to University parking regulations.

How can I enter the CSU Bookstore during construction? + Starting February 20, our upper level will be closed. Our entire selection of CSU Rams gear, school supplies, course materials, and general books will be on our lower level.

Customers will not be able to access the bookstore from the second floor of the Lory Student Center. LSC access to the entrance next to the Engineering Building will be restricted during construction.

An accessible entrance is available on the north end of the Lory Student Center. Elevators to the lower level are available near the food court and information desk for customers entering from the south, plaza, or food court entrances.
How is the CSU Bookstore paying for this project? + The CSU Bookstore returns revenues to CSU and the Lory Student Center. Additionally, the CSU Bookstore leases space from the Lory Student Center and Colorado State University. Lory Student Center leadership sets aside a portion of bookstore revenues and lease payments to fund improvements to the LSC and our bookstore. We are not receiving student fees to fund our portion of the remodel. The CSU Bookstore does not receive "kickbacks" from publishers or vendors to fund the bookstore refresh project.
I heard rumors about asbestos in the bookstore. Is this true? + There is limited asbestos in the CSU Bookstore which does not present a risk to any students, customers, or employees. Crews are safely removing any asbestos from the CSU Bookstore during this project.
